My favorite comedy duo is back together since ‘Parks and Recreation’

Shows like Parks and Recreation have become a staple in the comedy world for a reason. But often when a show ends, the creatives don’t work together again very quickly. Sure some bring their past collaborators on new projects but not as stars. Until now.
Parks and Recreation has been my favorite show since it began back in 2009. It was a collaboration between Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, who wrote the character of Leslie Knope for Amy Poehler. The show ran for 7 seasons on NBC and was a beautiful look at a female employee of the Pawnee Parks and Recreation department. It was a feel good show and one that I often still turn to whenever I need to feel a bit of happiness.
Which is what makes the news that Mike Schur and Amy Poehler are teaming up together again makes so exciting! News broke that Schur and Poehler are teaming up on a show called DIG. The series is described as follows: “Four women working at an archeological dig in Greece are at wildly different crossroads in their lives. When the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy.”
Peacock announced that they picked up the series and it will be executive produced by both Schur and Poehler who will also co-write the pilot. Poehler is set to star and there is no news yet on who the other four women will be. J.J. Philbin will also be a writer and executive producer on the series.
It’s what the world (me) needs

When I tell you that I turn to Parks and Recreation time and time again, I’m not kidding. This show makes me feel whole and complete and like the world isn’t as scary as it is. If I remember that Leslie Knope could lead with positivity and hope, I thought that I could do the same and it makes everything else feel a little less daunting.
DIG is going to be different from Parks and Recreation but I also feel a special kind of love and pull to all of Mike Schur’s shows. He’s had a few shows come out recently, like Man on the Inside, but there was a time when Schur and Daniels both had multiple shows airing at once and I really miss the joy I felt watching comedies on Thursday nights. DIG won’t fix that hole in my heart but it is going to be a nice start.
I just am excited that Poehler is going to be back on my television and with Mike Schur with her.
