Megyn Kelly wishes she could have words with the Pope, who died

So Pope Francis died the day after Easter. It was a sad affair met with plenty of Conclave references and jokes about JD Vance, who met him on that Easter Sunday. Now, Megyn Kelly has decided to weigh in on his passing and criticize the Pope.

On an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly used her time to “remember” the Pope by slamming his comments on President Donald Trump and criticizing his policies on immigration. The man died earlier that morning. But it didn’t stop Kelly from talking about how the Pope moved the Catholic church in a “leftward direction.”

She spoke of right-wing Catholics and how they felt “this tug of war going on between the Pope’s messaging and what he wanted us to believe were deep Catholic teachings, and what we understand as Americans who are watching our citizens murdered in the streets by these people to be true.” Kelly then went on to blame the Catholic church, and Pope Francis, for bringing immigrants to America and then making Americans “deal” with them.

“The church has been participating in getting immigrants here, and then finding them housing, and helping them stay here, irrespective of the fact that they’re here illegally,” Kelly said. “And Pope Francis didn’t have to deal with that. It’s caused a lot of us in the Catholic Church to wonder what exactly we’re donating toward on Sunday, it really does,” she said.

I’d argue that right-wing Catholics are taking the wrong lessons from church but hey, I’m just the ancestor of a bunch of Catholics who know what the church taught me as a kid. And the “love thy neighbor” part of the Bible tends to go right over MAGA fans and right-wing heads. Then she started in on Trump’s relationship with Pope Francis.

Trump v. Francis: Dawn of Megyn Kelly

Kelly went on in her rant to talk about how the Pope criticized Trump’s campaign since back in 2016 when Trump told people he would “build the wall” to stop illegal immigration. She knocked the Pope, saying that Vatican City was surrounded by walls. Leaving out the fact that you can easily walk right into Vatican City. So, hope that helps!

Kelly then went on to say that she wished she could have spoken to the Pope when he was alive. “This is why he was controversial amongst in particular a lot of Christians here in America who tend to be more conservative,” Kelly started. She went on to say “I’m sure he would’ve had nothing but empathy for those killed by these illegals.”

For context, the Pope wrote criticizing JD Vance and Trump, writing “Christian love is not a concentric expansion of interests that little by little extend to other persons and groups.” And when it comes down to it, I think I’m going to take the Pope’s stance in this case and not people like Megyn Kelly and JD Vance.

We don’t know who the next Pope is going to be but hopefully Megyn Kelly doesn’t talk to this one either.
