Let Texas boy Glen Powell bring us the new ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’

We live in a world of remakes and that includes classics like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. As a girl with a fear of the sound of chainsaws, it is a horror movie that actually does terrify me to no end. But a new one is intriguing.

Rumors began swirling in March of this year that a new one was brewing. Now, according to Deadline, there is a bidding war for the film. That includes some creatives who want to tackle a remake of the film and some options are decidedly better than others. Out of the creatives, it is easy to know why I am interested in one pairing.

So far, the rumored studios are Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw productions, Taylor Sheridan working on it for Paramount, Osgood Perkins doing it for NEON, Netflix, and Glen Powell with A24.

There are a lot of good options here and then some I’d rather not touch it. Do we really need to see Taylor Sheridan’s take on this story? We might be better off without that. But one thing is clear: We all clearly want to see what a modern take on this story would be. For all the responses to the news, very few were upset over the news of new creatives taking on the legacy of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

As of now, Deadline reported that there is no clear front runner out of the interested parties. We don’t know what they want to do with the story or who would star in these projects but it is interesting how many of these creatives want to try and tell a story in the world that Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel created.

Until we know more, I do think I like some of these more than others. Hopefully, we get to see the new take on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in theaters!
